National Charity League Book Drive

Let's join hands for a meaningful MLK Day of Service by supporting the National Charity League's inspiring initiative to collect books for Pre-K through 6th grade students. The latest literacy survey from the National Literacy Trust sheds light on a concerning reality – almost one in five children between the ages of 5 and 8 do not have a book of their own at home.

Your involvement can make a significant impact. From December 29 to January 12, we invite you to contribute to this noble cause by dropping off gently-used books for children ages 4 through 12 at Sew on Central. By doing so, you're not just donating books; you're playing a part in fostering a love for reading and making a positive change in a child's life.

Consider the profound effect your donation can have. Your old favorites or cherished childhood books could be the key to unlocking a world of imagination for a child who may not have had access to such treasures before. Picture the joy, curiosity, and inspiration that a single book can bring into a young mind's life.

In this season of giving, let's ensure that every child has the opportunity to experience the magic of holding their very own book. Together, we can contribute to bridging the literacy gap and shaping a brighter future for these young readers. So, mark your calendar, gather those books, and join us in making a positive difference in the lives of budding learners. Let's make this MLK Day truly special by spreading the gift of literacy and knowledge.
