Instructions:
Cutting Diamonds - 1. Begin by finding the solid black line on the 60-degree Diamond Ruler that corresponds to the finished size of the diamond you want to cut. 2. Follow across the ruler to determine the strip width needed. Cut a fabric strip this width. For example - for 3 inch finished size diamond - cut a 3-1/2 inch wide strip. TIP - To cut maximum number of diamonds from a fabric strip - open out fabric strip so you will be cutting a single layer. If you are cutting many diamonds - layer several strips and cut them at the same time. 3. Beginning at left end of fabric strip - place top edge of ruler along top edge of strip. Trim along left slanted edge of ruler. TIP - If you cut left handed - work from the right end of the fabric strip and begin by cutting along right edge of ruler. After edge of strip is trimmed - rotate ruler 180 degrees to cut diamonds. 4. Slide ruler over so solid lines for diamond you are cutting are aligned with the left slanted cut edge and lower edge of strip. Cut along right slanted edge of ruler to cut one diamond. Repeat step #4 to cut additional diamonds. Using 60-Degree Diamonds - The Ideas for 60-Degree Diamonds diagrams show options for combining diamonds. For some types of designs such as Star of the East - it is quicker to join strips of different fabrics into a strip set of the correct width before cutting diamonds. Combining Diamonds with Related Shapes - The 60-Degree Diamond Ruler coordinates with both the F & P Pyramid Ruler and F & P Hexagon Ruler. For example - a 3 inch pyramid triangle - 6 inch hexagon - and 3 inch 60-Degree diamond will all fit together. Refer to Ideas for Combining 60-Degree Diamond with Related Shapes diagrams.
